St. Martin church

St. Martin church

The church of St Martin d’Aymavilles was not only included among the first 15 parishes of the Valley established around 1600 but is also cited along with the churches of St Germain and of Morgex forming the triad of churches with the attribute of plébanies (large abbeys).

Mentioned for the first time in a papal bull of Pope Alexander III of April 20, 1176, among the possessions of the bishop of Aosta, the Church of St Martin was rebuilt in 1724-1725.

The bell tower, which would still present significant medieval elements, had its top profoundly reconfigured in 1833.
